Pixel

“Conceptually and in its execution this work is fascinating… this work speaks to so many areas that need interrogating in society – especially how technology is and will be used in the future.”

Anouska Phizacklea, Gallery Director of Monash Gallery of Art

Detail shots of Pixel, Forty Five Downstairs, Melbourne, 2022

Pixel is the conception of the LED screen as a textural encounter. It is a work of two media; sculpture (gypsum cast) and projection and builds on the notion of encounter through tactile stimuli, challenging the habitual behaviour to ‘view’ a screen, and, to move beyond the perceived and actual limitations of screen media itself.

Pixel was the winning entry to the Emerging Artist Award at Forty Five Downstairs, 2021.

Textural projection of multicoloured red, yellow, green, blue and purple hues on cast plaster sculpture.
